lets say i am missing X and Y. i have A to trade. instead of searching for X and offer A, or searching for Y and offer A, why not let me search for people who wants A instead which would then show me people who can give me either X or Y instead of just 1?

Isn’t that what the normal trade does? It looks for people that need the cards you have duplicates of and vice-versa. It should find you the best matches. It only does not help if you are looking for a very specific card because the trade matches list could be long which makes it hard to find someone that has exactly that one card for you. That is why we added the option to search for a specific card.
The reverse use-case would be you want to get rid of a very specific card, but I don’t think that is very common.
