Hindered Bulk Upload from recent Scan feature update

Hello,

I noticed an update to the “Scan” feature that allows—and also requires—you to select the pack that the cards you will be uploading originate from. This makes it difficult to upload cards received from trades or from various packs.

I request an option to not select any pack at all when using this feature. As a power priority option, it would be nice if we could select multiple packs too, towards the same ends.

The reason you now need to select the pack is because of the new deluxe set which has duplicate cards from multiple sets, so we need to know which one you opened, otherwise the code can’t know which one to register.

In what scenario do you have a screenshot with cards from multiple packs in the same screenshot?

Is there any reason for the promo packs being missing? :astonished:

I’m also annoyed by this. There are multiple scenarios that this decision kinda destroyed:

  • Uploading multiple screenshots at once
  • Wonder picks
  • Trade
    In all of these you can just forget what pack you opened or not know it from the start (For example, I just opened an Absol from the wonder pick event and have no clue which expansion it comes from. Trade is another example where, if you don’t check explicitly, you don’t know the expansion).

I previously used scanner exclusively to track my collection, but now like 50% of the times I have to go to the collection and manually search and increment the card. And also switch between gallery and browser at least two times to first get the name from the screenshot, then the exact version (as the arts are often similar). This is really annoying.

And it’s not true that the user needs to specify the expansion before uploading the screenshot, because if they don’t “the code won’t know which one to register”. First of all, not all cards appear in multiple expansions. I shouldn’t be required to specify a pack for my wonder picked Absol (that I have no idea which pack it comes from) if it’s one of them. Secondly, the prompt for expansion could be moved after the image upload, per-screenshot (or even per card, to facilitate trade screenshots with two cards from different expansions) basis. This way I could upload two screenshots at a time even if they are from different expansions. And lastly, the system could guess which expansion the cards come from: if it sees a screenshot with 4 cards exclusively from A1a and one that appears in both A1a and A4b, it can safely default to A1a and allow the user to change to A4b if case the guess was incorrect. This way the experience would be much smoother, requiring less actions and thinking from the user.

Sure, there are plenty of things we can improve. Specifically, after the upcoming migration. But until that happens, we don’t even know two cards are linked, so for now this is what it is.

As you know the migration is as good as ready, i’ll probably do it tonight.

Choosing a set per card if multiple options (with the latest pre-selected) makes sense.

Hello,
I don’t if it is a choice or a bug, but we can’t select the PromoA Pack in the list of packs when scanning. (Because it doesn’t exist).

edit: It would be useful when opening event boosters.

Sorry for the late reply. The scenario is really more so if I’m uploading several screenshots at once. Rather than open the site after every new card. I usually check in every few days… sometimes every week or so :sweat_smile:

Between promo cards, shared cards, traded cards, and wonder pick, there are a lot of opportunities to regularly receive cards from different expansions, even if you’re consistently only opening packs from the same expansion set.
