Deck tips for solo battles?

So I’m trying to complete the solo battles for shop tickets, and I’ve done every mission up until master rank, but now I’m facing a bit of a roadblock with beating the battles with decks made up of only the type at a disadvantage to the opponent’s deck.

Does anyone have a tip for mono-type decks that can still beat a deck it’s weak against? I’m having the most trouble with a grass type deck that can beat fire decks like Charizard ex

Thanks in advance!

You might already know this, but for the weak-against-type challenge, one way to mitigate the difficulty is to use Mons that have a weakness to a different type. For example if there’s a Psychic deck challenge that wants me to use Fighting-Types only, I might use a deck with Garchomp or Sandlash that are Fighting mons but are weak to Grass.

Other thoughts are 1) I think every type has “Flying” mons that are weak to Electric, (Grass certainly does) so that’s handy. 2) This will happen with almost every high-level challenge, but sometimes you just have to brute force it.

NB what I’ve tended to do w/ Master challenges is start with the pauper/weakness challenges first. Since you’ll need to play multiple times, you might as well start with the hard ones to let the damage/points ones build up and if you’re lucky, you can knock off a bunch at once.

Hey @Tini, agree with the tips @Joe has mentioned. The Yanmega Ex is a Grass type that is not weak to fire types that may be helpful.

Other tips are to use grass types that are quick to generate or require little energy to have strong attacks to try to knock out cards as quickly perform they can evolve them or power them up. Rare Candy cards should work in your favour too.

I think at the time I used a Celebri Ex / Executor Ex deck, but this still required a lot of pure luck to land some of the coinflips. I also found using red cards was a good way to disrupt the deck orders.

Edit: Just had a look at some of your cards- Your Beedrill Ex is a good one to energy trap opponents if that helps too

Yes, red card can be handy if you’re like me and assume the computer (phone?) likes to cheat. Other disruption cards like Cyrus, Sabrina, Repel, Rocket Grunt, Guzma, etc can be splashed in, too.

With Grass in particular, you can also just load the deck up with heals and defense and make the opponent have to overkill you.

Hi, thank you both so much for your tips! I’ll give the challenges a try with those in mind! @Red @Joe
